Smithsonian Natural History Museum & the National Archives

Jacqui and I went to see the Smithsonian Natural History Museum and the National Archives on different days, but I thought I’d combine them here in this single post. I really wanted to go to the Natural History Museum to see the dinosaur exhibits.

Growing up in Kansas, and a fan of dinosaurs, I was always dying to see a real dinosaur skeleton in person. However, because I lived in Kansas, that’s a bit difficult. We didn’t go on many vacations and didn’t go to any museums either, so my opportunities were limited.

I saw my first dinosaur at the Fields Museum in Chicago when I was older, but their selection is limited. At the Natural History Museum, they have dinosaurs, early mammals, those gigantic sloths, sea creatures, and tons more.

There’s a ton more photos in this Flickr set, Natural History Museum

We also took a trip to the Natural Archives to see the Constitution:

The Declaration of Independence as well as the Bill of Rights, and various other important documents from America’s history.

This building had a beautiful architecture. Both the exterior and interior were amazing:

If you ever go to Washington D.C., go to the Archives. The wait can look a little long, but it really moves quickly and you can say you saw and read a very important bit of world history.
