Thoughts on Washington DC's light rail system

We just got back from a four day, five night stay in Washington DC and our primary mode of transportation was on the light rail system they call the Metro. We're super comfortable with rail transit; we travel long distances in Chicago quite often on the El. I've rode trains in San Francisco (BART) and Toronto as well. I liked a lot of what I saw on the Metro and I thought I'd just share those things here. The stations make excellent use of escalators, most likely because these stations are so far underground.
