Wired 5.06: June 1997 Apple Issue
Look what I found today!
It was in a stack of similar issues from the era and is in MINT condition! It’s even got the subscription cards between the pages! I seriously doubt this thing has ever been opened.
The article, “[101 ways to save Apple],” is very interesting because many of the ideas proposed were actually pursued and led us to the company that we know today!

3 Most Used Apps
==
Molly asks what my three most used apps on my computer were in 2005. Well that’s easy: Safari, Transmit and NetNewsWire. Though to be fair, TextWrangler is up there as well.
Which reminds me, I’m looking for a text editor which can highlight the other end of the bracket the cursor is currently resting on, as well as collapse CSS blocks and what not. Preferably it will also have built-in...
My new pencil from Will Smith!
Quite an awesome gift! :D
WordPress 2.0
WYSIWYG editor (woop) is probably the coolest, but the use of AJAX is excellent. They’ve also reorganized the posting interface so you’re not scrolling all over the place to get your post done. Download and upgrade cos’ it’s so darned easy! For more information on what exactly is new here, click the link back there. Some of the stuff I think is worthwhile:

M.I.A.: Arular
M.I.A. is a beautiful Sri Lankan hip-hopper who makes awesome beats and conjures up the idea of a rawer (eh?) Nelly Furtado except with crunchier beats and distinct Indian-esqe influence in the songs.
Check out [10 Dollar], [U.R.A.Q.T.], and [Bucky Done Gun]. The music is fun and quirky, which is what I love ;)

One year ago today: buttermilk biscuits
!http://www.phaedo.cx/fotokake/albums/biscuits_albino/IMG_0005.JPG!
I decided I would try to make some buttermilk biscuits and Jacqui wanted to make Chili. Both parts came out awesome, even though I was very disappointed in my biscuits as I put them into the oven, they came out pretty good!

Plus I am the stuffing!
You Are The Stuffing
You’re complicated and complex, yet all your pieces fit together.
People miss you if you’re gone – but they’re not sure why.

A guy here at work has a neighbor who builds these little planes out of a aluminum cans. We got him to build me a plane completely out of Pimp Juice cans.
The result is awesome! I have the plane...

Excellent New Sites
Over the past few weeks I have been subscribing to several new blogs and web services that I am really enjoying. It’s a rare occasion where I find such gems amongst the noise that is the blogosphere and Web 2.0 hype machine, but these sites exhibit several features that I look for when finding new content to read. URI: Excellent New Sites.
In this similar vein I’d like to highlight some...

And I fucking hate restaurants that are so scared to let people be individuals that they’d turn away their money.

Snakes and Rubies conference recap
The Django presentation went quite well, and lots of attendees who hadn’t yet tried Django said they were intrigued by the framework and wanted to give it a try. Django even got plenty of kind comments from the Ruby folks, including David himself, who said he’d probably be using Django if he hadn’t written Rails. We hope at least some of the Ruby folk will check out Django as a...
Use your computer as a bluetooth headset
Why can’t I use my computer as if it were a bluetooth headset for my cellphone? That way I could instruct my computer to tell my phone to make a call (via Bluetooth of course) and then I would use my computer’s speakers and microphone as a “headset” of sorts.
For people like me with super cellphone plans, that’d blow Skype out of the water, and I’d never have to go rummaging around to find my...
