BBEdit might not suck, but its new icon sure does!

Cancel your friendster account
Friendster fired an excellent employee for having a blog. Jeremy Zawodny (big mySQL guy at Yahoo!) encourages you to cancel your friendster account to show them how you feel about the situation.
A little more background might be in order. Friendster fired this employee (Joyce Park) who has written some very informative articles about why Friendster went with PHP vs. Java was fired by her...
So far, the RNC is a joke
Empty words, retarded rhetoric, and lo-and-behold no stances on anything to do with anything relevant. Most of the speakers are just yapping on about how going to war was the right choice, and how George Bush is a brave and exemplary man and he should be exaulted, not demonized!
This picture basically sums up the whole convention so far:
Brutus likes my my new hoodie
More Brutus Updates
Brutus has taught himself to fetch his little mouse when I toss it :) Its so funny and goes a little like this:
I throw the mouse across the room
He dashes across the room to get it
He picks it up in his mouth
He trots back over to me
If I put my hand down on the floor he drops the mouse and sits patiently for me to throw it again :)
We must have done this 200 times over the...
Brutus Training!
We’re doing some basic training with Brutus tonight. The best way to train a cat with with a little “clicker” and some cooked chicken. He’s already got the idea of a “marker” (running the to marker and touching it with his paws or nose) and “sitting up” on his hind legs. Its tons of fun ;D
Bush campaign's wheels are falling off
A volunteer adviser on veterans issues quit the Bush campaign Saturday after he appeared in the group’s latest ad. The Bush campaign said it did not know retired Air Force Col. Ken Cordier had taken part in the ad.
An ad on the Kerry campaign Web site features an exchange between McCain and Bush during a CNN-sponsored debate before the 2000 South Carolina primary.
In it, McCain said a spokesman...
School starts, I'm not there
For the first time in 5 years, I’m not starting a new semester of school. I guess it doesn’t feel weird, only when I think about it ;)
When you’re in 3rd grade and you realise that you could possibly be in school for 13 or 14 more years you freak out! Now that I’ve completed all of the traditional schooling it doesn’t really feel like that long. I wish I could’ve stuck around and gotten a...
Brutus has arrived!
We did our 2 hour drive to a place somewhere past Columbus and met up with Brutus’ breeders. We exchanged paperwork and the cat and headed on back. He’s very playful and smart and he’s still getting used to all the different parts of the apartment :) Me and him took a little nap together for an hour or so. I got up but he’s still in there snoozing. I imagine he’s had a very exciting day for a...
A Fun-Filled Weekend!
We’ve been enjoying a very packed weekend but its been really fun, and its not even over yet! :)
Last night we went to a Mediterranean restaurant downtown (within walking distance) named [Mejana]. I had half a grilled chicken with some special kind of rice and Jacqui had a lamb shank. It was very tasty indeed :)
This morning we checked out early and headed down to Target in Florence,...
Beta Mozilla Website
Doesn’t it look pretty cool I thought the current website was a big improvement from their previous one but this new one (if it makes the final cut) seems to be leaps and bounds over the current design. I especially like the large icons. They really catch the eye and make the project look legitimate and professional :P
More Pics of Brutus!
Brutus countdown!
As of right now there are 495,000 seconds exactly until we get Brutus!
That comes out to 137 hours and 30 minutes. 5 days, 17 hours, 30 minutes!
Chicago for the Weekend
Me and Jacqui spent this past weekend up in Chicago for Jacqui’s cousin’s bridal shower/luncheon thing. The drive from Cincinnati to Chicago is a good 5 hour drive (Mapquest claims 5h 26m) with no traffic and a little bit of creative interpretation of the speed limit. If you encounter traffic (most likely on 80/94) you’ll take at least 6 hours to do the trip.
We got the eat at the awesome...
MT-Textile Compatible Wordpress Plugin
This is the Textile 2 plugin that should be shipping with Wordpress. If the Wordpress developers want more people to seriously consider moving to Wordpress from MovableType they NEED to ship with a MT-Texile compatible text filter plugin.
When I brought over my posts from MT a majority of them were screwed up beyond all comprehension. This plugin is a god-send! All my posts now look...
Check out the variations of the new shirt
Do any of these shirt designs (Varations on the new shirt) particularly POP at anyone?
“Resistance is Futile” Variations
Additional Kitten Pics
Jacqui had posted these but I want to post them here now:
!
The Winner is:
A nice geeky shirt:
New post script for The Lounge on Ars
I made a python script that checks the Ars Technica forum “The Lounge” every 15 minutes and sends me a little email digest with links if it finds any new posts.
Q1: Can I have a copy? A1: NO
I’m sure they’d love 100 people DDoSing the forum with my stupid script :P
Python tip (dictionaries)
Python type objects like dict (Associative array or hash) has lots of cool little methods that I didn’t know about.
Some of them I use a lot like:
k in a which really maps to a.has_key(k)
The dict type also has a pop() method which I don’t really use a lot with dictionaries, but I do use it a lot with list types. I also use the insert() and append() methods of lists quite often.

Not much time left on the final poll!
Just a reminder that there is only about 0.120 days left on our final poll to decide which shirt will be produced by our little T-Shirt Sweatshop
Yeah I switched to Wordpress
I was feeling adventurous and I got tired of mucking with so many damn templates all the time! So I just up and switched. There were a few things that I changed but over all I tried to make it appear the exact same.
The only downside I’ve found so far is that the Textile 2 support for Wordpress is all jacked up. Many of the entries I made with MT-Textile 2.0. I had really gotten into using...
Political Things!
I read this at NsLog this morning and I’ve been reading it at other sites as it gets passed around. Read more if you’re interested in my political views :)
I have never voted for a Democrat in my life. I have ever only voted in the 2000 Presidential Election. I really don’t have an interest in voting beyond that, but that might be slowly changing.
I think taxes are too high. Not at all. ...
Cat things
We went out today to shop for the Cat necessities and bought a lot of stuff like a litter box, food, a collar and tag. We also ate lunch at Fudruckers restaurant! I ate way too much hamburger >_<
We watched a bit of the movie Night of the Comet
Two girls from the Valley wake up to find that a passing comet has eradicated their world and left behind a mysterious red-dust and a pack of...
Et Tu Brutus!
We’re getting a cat in a few weeks. There he is!
We're voting on T-Shirt Finalists Now
Our first poll ran for a little over a week and generated over 300 votes! I am simply amazed that we got so many people (Unique IP addresses) to vote on our site :D
Once the dust settled, I picked out the four shirt ideas that recieved the most votes. Two were ideas that I personally submitted and two were user submitted ideas.
The finalists are:
Resistance is Futile
Your lack of...
A kindred soul!
I read this post on Something Similar and it was almost as if he was writing about me:
I will, on occasion, lie to people while talking to them online late at night. I don’t lie about relationships, or them, or about myself. I tell them that I’m “heading to bed” when I know for damn sure that I’m merely going to put up and away message (usually some variation of “sleeeep”) then pull up my text...

Ruby on Rails
Ruby on Rails looks like a really awesome idea for building web applications. Be sure to check out their short instructional movie on building your own application.
Does anyone know if something similar exists for Python or PHP? None of my hosts support Ruby ;(
More webcams
Added the kitchen cam tonight. Thanks to my grandma for sending some webcam she had laying around (why, I dunno!).
Look for it over in the sidebar. I’ve got one more cam to put somewhere, but I’m not sure where I want to put it! :)
Testing Meme Propagation In Blogspace: Add Your...
This posting is a community experiment started by Minding the Planet to see how a meme represented by a blog posting spreads across blogspace, physical space and time. It will help to show how ideas travel across blogs in space and time and how blogs are connected. It may also help to show which blogs are most influential in the propagation of memes. The original posting for this experiment is...
Eventful Weekend
I’m not in the mood to write too long of a post tonight so I’ll just lay it out for ya!
Here is the whole gallery!
Friday 5pm: Get off work
Friday 7pm: Me and Jacqui go to the excellent Wah Mee’s chinese restaurant down on Elm between 4th and 5th street. I go there sometimes for lunch and its always packed. Friday evening the place is barren. We were like, one of two groups eating...
