The day
Today was beautiful. 70 degree weather, in fact its 70 degrees right now at nearly 8pm …mmmm… Worked out after class. My plan for changing and taking my shorts and top worked out pretty good. I got to ride the bike for 20 minutes and it wasn’t nearly as hard as the past two times. I might have to go to a longer amount of time or a more strenuous level on the bike. Have an excellent day ;)

Stuff ;)
I just wanted to throw out a little rant that got stuck in my brain as I groggily listened to the news as I lay in bed (My computer automatically cues up a mp3 news stream at 6am or so every morning). I became very worried when an ad-hoc interview was aired with a “regular joe”. The news person was on the street soliciting opinions from people and the response I heard was rather startling. ...

I was so worried, and now look
I was so worried that all of my conflicting tasks this morning were going to cause catastrophe. I had to turn in my time card to CERIAS before 9am, I also had a class from 7:30am to 8:20am and I had a meeting with my adademic advisor at 8:20am. Quite a mess eh? Well I just went to the 7:30 class and no one was there. So I sat down and started to get the syllabus out when the professor and...

Filezilla 2.1.5 is out
Looks like it was about time for another Filezilla release. 2.1.5 brings some new features and some bug fixes. If you haven’t tried filezilla its an awesome FTP/SFTP client for windows. Link to 2.1.5 notes Link to 2.1.5 downloads Did I mention a few days ago that Sourceforge recently implemented RSS feeds for all projects? This is how I found out about this filezilla release so...

Milltiamen in disguise
Picked this up over on davezilla’s blog. Some kid changed his name to Optimus Prime ;) Sounds cool, but its a sure fire way to never hear the end of something while in service ;) The link to the actual story is here .

The beginning of the end
Well it seems that spring break is coming to an end. I am very anxious to get back into the swing of things. I don’t know about everyone else (well I do know about Jacqui since we’ve talked about this), but the spring semester always seems to really hit me hard. The second semester of the year always throws me off track and I have to really fight to get myself organized and composed. In...

Spring Breakin'
Having a good time on spring break. Lets sum it up real quick. My dad and step-mom came up to Chicago on sunday and we (them + me + jacqui + jacqui’s parents) all went out to eat at the Macaroni Grill. After that we all went back to Jacqui’s house and had desert and everyone talked for a while before my parents headed out to their hotel to sleep for the night. The next day me and jacqui and...

Dynamic Classes in PHP: Part II
After taking a look at what’s available to me in the way of creating polymorphic functions in PHP, I’ve come to the conclusion that my idea has a snowball’s chance in hell of working ;) I took a look at some functions called create_function which, despite its exciting name, turns out only to be for simple anonymous lambda-type functions. Nothing as complex as I’m wanting. To top it off you...

Dynamic Classes in PHP?
I’m toying around with implementing the experimental idea of dynamically extending my calendar class with fields pertaining to a specific type of event. For example, I need to use this class to provide support for the short courses offered by CERIAS training and awareness. This application needs a large set of custom fields to be bound to the events. Rather than hard-code in support for...

OPML Parsin' All night Long!
I wrote up a little php class to parse an OPML file. What is OPML? you might ask. Well ask and you will recieve! It’s not anything specific really, but it’s the default file format for communicating lists of RSS feeds. Syndirella , NetNewsWire, and maybe other news aggregating programs support the format. In any case I wanted to put my list of blogs I read up on my site without having to...

Software - Last update today (I swear)
I’ll make this quick. Camino 0.7 – This used to be called Chimera and is the premier Gecko based web browser for OS X. 0.7 was released (after much waiting!) today. It’s awesome, you should download it :P NetJuke – This is a cool PHP app that lets you run a mySQL/PHP based jukebox. You can actually operate it in a number of modes. You can let it index your mp3s and serve as a local...

Life et cetera
Spring break is coming up (in a week or something) and this year my Dad and Step-Mom will be coming up here from Kansas to see me and Jacqui. We’ll be going up to chicago to see all the sights (Sears Tower, stores and shops) and hopefully later on that night we’ll be going to see Second City (a famous comedy theater in chicago) and lots more. We’ll probably also be around for the St. Patrick’s...

School - Week 8
Class trudges along. I’ve already got another test coming up in EET 257 on Monday, a mere two weeks after the last one. I think I’m picking up the information on Boost Regulators (they let you step up an input voltage to a larger value) without using a transformer and are used in a lot of common electronics like cell phones and PDAs to power low-current “high” voltage circuits (12V-24V) from a...

Tabbed Browsing in Safari, Dave Hyatt Speaks Out
David Hyatt , a safari developer, has written up a little explaination of his stance on tab implementation and its place in Apple’s browser Safari. Its worth a read, however, I doubt it’ll throw those weird “LETS PUT ICONS OF OUR WEBPAGES INTO A GIANT EXPANDING SIDEBAR DOWN THE SIDE OF THE BROWSER” back on their heels. Personally I think those implementations are both ugly and unusable. Tabs...

Gallery
I finally have got a semi-functional gallery up and running. To give credit where credit is due, Gallery made it all possible ;) Get to it from here or use the “gallery” link up in the nav bar. =clint

Cross product you moron!
Construction Worker Joe: I think the non-trivial zeros of the zeta-function are of the form _1/2 +- i*theta_n_ Construction Worker Larry: I agree. It’s clear when you consider the operators D^{(k,1)} and their respective vectors \psi_s (t) Construction Worker Joe: Of course, so long as using D^{(k,1)} on \psi_s (t) will produce k*(\psi_s (t)) Construction Worker Larry: Yeah. Joe, you’d...

Syndirella
Syndirella Damn, how did I forget perhaps the most used application on my computer? I’ve been using Syndirella several times a day lately to keep tabs on nearly 30 news sources and weblogs and I think its just great. I pimped it over on Arstechnica the same day I made my last software post so I have no idea how I forgot about it here. Here’s my post from that thread: Syndirella, an awesome...
