LightCMS logo: Obama much?

30 January 2008

I saw a link to a new CMS in my news reader this morning called LightCMS that bills itself as the first “designer friendly” CMS. When I clicked through to check it out I noticed something odd about their logo. I’d seen it somewhere before, but where?

Hmm…. wait! Obama!

I see that they’ve added a few light rays and pulled out the stripes, but the similarity is unmistakable! Maybe they’re just huge Obama fans?

I think it’s a pretty common logo concept. I’ve seen many variations of it over the years :)

You might be right, Gus. Maybe I’ve only exposed my own Obama-obsession with this post ;)

Actually, I’m pretty sure I saw their logo at least 1,5 - 2 years ago or so - at least long before Obama’s campaign started, to be fair.

Maybe Obama stole it from LightCMS!

it’s a little similar… LightCMS might want to consider putting their logo in a wide rectangle, which would work better as a “horizon” and wouldn’t resemble the Obama logo (or vice versa).

looks like the designers at lightcms were very short of ideas, either that or they watch too much CNN.
